angiepants [one pocket at a time]

Hi, I'm a 24 year old Long Island raised lady who became a grown adult (aka: 6 years for undergrad and grad schooling) in Philly, home of squished pretzels and 'brotherly' love. I've traveled over the northeast coast and even once to the Midwest for clinical rotations. I'm finishing my final one back in good ole' Philly this summer. I'm on the track to finish my Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree and then take my licensure test this fall.

I'm known to geek over anything anatomy or adaptive sports. You’ll find me stopping to pick flowers for my hair, living waist deep in my studies or spending the weekend cooking up a storm.

I'm an Aries and ENFJ by nature.

My favorites are fruit, artsy things, wearing aprons and sprawling down on the ground instead of actual chairs. This is my place of inspirations, thoughts, and daily occurrences. Enjoy.

GPOYW: I went out with 4/5 of the housemates last Thursday night in early celebration of one of their birthdays.  This is Christina, a 27 year old Interior Designer (who runs her own company!) from Mississippi.  We both have really strong personalities, but we get along quite well edition.

GPOYW: With a really good friend Katie who I can’t believe is leaving Philly for Portland, Ohio June 30th.  It is going to be so hard to enjoy Philly as much without her but I’m so proud she will be working towards her doctorate edition.

Happy Mother’s Day!

My mom is basically like one of my best friends - she’s in the trip for laughs, serious talks, upsets and just the basic works of day to day life.

Thanks, Mom - you mean the world to me.

GPOYW: This is a co-worker/student friend Greg from Texas - he reminds me somewhat of my friend Greg from Philly.  They both bake and are very technically savy/smart edition.

awkwardsituationist:

"Elephants are legendary for their memory and intelligence, including attributes associated with grief, making music, altruism and compassion. We came across this elephant whose corpse was overcome by vultures and jackals. From a distance we heard, and then saw, another elephant approaching at a fast pace. She was successful at chasing away the predators and then very slowly, and with much empathy, wrapped her trunk around the deceased elephant’s tusk. She stayed in this position for several hours guarding her friend."

- photo and text by john chaney in Botswana, 2007.

This reminds me of my Dog when she went around sniffing everything in our backyard looking for her puppies after the last one was given away.  Preciously disheartening.

GPOYW: I went to Frankford Hall with a bunch of an old RA Building staff this weekend edition.
Here is another great a friend, Katie.  I’ve realized my ‘great’ friends are not necessarily the ones I see most often (sadly that’s life, we’re all busy!), but they are the ones I feel the most comfortable and free around.  Katie and I are also tumblr friends, so we follow each other’s written words on strength, weaknesses, concerns and cares.  In person, we do the same good sharing of voicing and listening – and it’s never awkward.  And lastly, she’s always a bundle of fun – I never fail to smile and get giddy when in her presence!
BTW: I got a ‘gluten-free’ beer last Saturday night.  Why I did that when I was just getting my taste buds use to lighter bluemoons (before quitting gluten) defies me.  It was the heaviest dark lager EVER. Blah.
In case you were wondering about gluten and alcoholic beverages (wine, vodka, gin, tequila – it’s pretty much all okay!  Yay!)

Tasha is what I call my ‘saving grace friend from freshman year.’  When I was almost going home for the summer at the tiniest size and self-esteem I ever had,   she became my friend.  We took dance classes together but once we started baking together (see fudge picture), it was like I had friendship and fun back in my life.  That summer, she even came to my Long Island hometown for an extended weekend (none of my other Drexel friends have done that). She’s literally the reason I got hooked on making fudge (among other desserts) and gained back  at least 10 pounds that summer to a more ‘normal’ weight.

Since then, we’ve been great baking, dance, theatre and family centered friends.

She is also the biggest chocolate addict I know – so for her birthday I’ve made chocolate pretzels (wish they were thinner, but they work for a first timer!) and put them in a glass jar (you can write labels in chalk and obviously she can use this for her other great baked goods).  Oh, and they are dark chocolate Ghirardelli.  Damn that’s good.

GPOYW: Okay, so he can recite a car model, edition and manufacturer off with one look and my best is describing by color or big/small, but this is the closest male version of me I’ve met so far edtion.
Desperate Housewives, James Bond, Glee, it goes on.
A love to be super busy and involved.
Endless baking-if not creating together, we’d share advice on substite ingredients or secretly ‘compete’
A need to look sharp at all times, no matter how tired.
Being way overly excited and rambunctious on simple things
Having a brain that runs 500 miles a minute and having inward insecurities despite acting as the above.
He’s currently having the best year of his life (6 months in Germany and now 6 months working for BMW in North Carolina) and I’m so happy for him.  Obviously I miss him like hell, but whenever he does return it’s like continuing a conversation that never ended or a fired up excitement to explore that never burned out.

Day 5 - Who is the best friend you’ve met at college? How did you meet and what sort of adventures have you had?

For classes, it’s been Becca B!  She’s a small, nerdy blonde who has the same sense of style, love of food, art and humor as me.  We met from basically having the exact same courses-me being a PT major and her being PA major.  She’s one of the only people in our Health Care College that I still genuinely respect and enjoy.

As for the rest, it’s a select few from my sorority DZ and my RA co-workers that really put inspiration in my life and a smile across my face.  I can’t even beginto list all the ‘adventures’ of Greek Life or the RA lifestyle.

(Blurry but one of the bests)

Chokes & Tots

You know those people with whom you just easily mesh and feel like you’ve been secretly living similar lifestyles, but just miles apart?  The lady above is one of those amazing people.  We may have slightly different styles on certain things, but we have similar organizing, getting things done, bonding with family, childhood bonding, bringing out the creative, and getting overly excited about things apects shared.
The second highlight (to seeing this fabulous face) was learning how to both grill and then eat artichokes, making Grown Up Tater tots (to be redone and made with more prowess!), and enjoying the 17th floor open view of the Philly city.

I need a friend before a relationship, even before a romance.
I’m 5 at heart and hope you are too.
